Have you ever walked into a place and thought to yourself, “I belong here”? I have. I remember it very clearly, I walked into Holy Cross after a tough weekend and started to think about all of the people I have come to love at church and here in Dallas. I smiled to myself because I felt this overwhelming sense of belonging. During the months before I chose to take my call, there had been so much doubt and asking God if I was following the path He had set before me or if I was walking the wrong way. On that Monday my questions were answered. This place is where He needs my set of gifts, skills and talents. Here is where I belong.  It’s not about a building at all, its about the people. Together we are doing something incredible. Loving in ways the world has forgotten. Giving people a place to belong, to be safe and to hear about a God who loves them indefinitely and abundantly. We are embodying the idea that Paul talks about in Ephesians Chapter 2.

19So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. 20 Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.21 We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. 22 Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.”

We are made a part of His family. We continue to bring others into that family. My prayer for you is that if you are feeling alone, that you remember you belong here. God placed you in our lives for a reason. You matter. Please remember who you belong to, the great King Jesus! He chose you and me and put us together in this place to help others understand that they belong to a God who loves them without fail.
