William F. Doehring   Organist

William F. Doehring serves as Organist and currently co-directs and accompanies the Sanctuary Choir at Holy Cross since October 1995. He is a lifetime Lutheran graduating from St. Paul’s Lutheran grade school in Hammond, Indiana.

His musical career started at age 7 learning to play the accordion and then started lessons on the organ at the age of 18. He became church organist and choir director at age 19 and has completed 56 years, 6,337 church services, 364 weddings, and 508 funerals. For 15 years, he worked in the Electric Engineering Department of Northern Indiana Public Service Co. For 22 years, he was a District Representative for Aid Association for Lutherans and a service representative for Vroom Organ Co. in Lansing, Illinois. and Range Organ Co. in Dallas, Texas, for 18 years, designing, repairing, tuning and dedicating pipe organs. In 2005, he completed the Holy Cross organ that was installed (but not completed) in 1980.

He has been married to Lucille for 52 wonderful years, and they have 3 girls and 1 boy, two in Indiana and two in Dallas, and one grandchild. His goal in life is Serving The Lord With Gladness.
